With over 20 years experience and fully qualified since 2006, I now work as a sole practitioner following a 10 year career working for some of the largest practices in London. After moving back to Sheffield I decided to focus on providing architectural services at a smaller scale for private domestic clients, whilst bringing the benefit of my extensive commercial knowledge. I wanted to get involved in projects that were personal to individuals, helping people to realise their own ideas. My approach is to provide the services of an architect, at a smaller scale, to clients who would prefer to work with an individual as opposed to a larger practice. On your project I will be directly responsible for all aspects of the work ensuring that you recieve a personal and professional experience.

my approach
I encourage all enquiries large or small, particluarly whereby clients are unsure as to whether or not their project requires an Architect. I'm happy to explain the benefits of using an Architect on smaller projects, especially where a project is a 'self-build' or undertaken directly by a contractor. My goal is to give all clients the best chance of success and minimise their risk during the process. My approach is to help clients reach their own decisions, not to dictate the direction of a project and you'll recieve balanced impartial advice along the way.
terms of appointment
I am a fully qualified ARB Registered Archiect. This means that you are assured a level of service in accordance with ARB guidelines including written terms of engagement and professonal indemnity insurance. All terms of appointment are made under contract.
Note: For the purpose of trading, IJM Architect is the trading name for Ian McKendrick, a sole practioner Architect, registered with the ARB. All work undertaken by IJM Architect is insured under the terms of professional indeminity taken out by and held exclusively by Ian McKendrick.
